As an experienced life coach and trainer with a history of client success, I have the tools and understanding to
help teens/young adults Build Character, Emotional Intelligence, and Develop a Growth Mindset as they transition from Middle School to High School, and from High School to College and/or Employment.
In partnering with my clients, I encourage them to find their passion and purpose in life; Motivate them to adapt to values which will serve as guiding principles for their lives; Champion their strengths while helping them to work on their weaknesses; Support them in making positive choices ; Challenge them to be 'personally accountable' for every decision and action they take and Hold Space for them without judgment.
Over 17.5 years’ experience in Human Resources Management and Administration, including eight years of Life Coaching and Mentoring, and experience working in the Texas criminal justice system led to my transformational work with youth. I hold a master’s degree in Employment Studies and Human Resources Management, a graduate of Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD, UK), a Certified Life Coach, a Certified Energy Leadership Index Practitioner, and a youth minister.
In my Human Resources Management role about 16 years ago, I observed that most of these young adults that were eager to start and earn their first paycheck, submitted poorly written resumes and cover letters, lacked confidence during interviews, and were unable to articulate themselves even though their resumes/CVs suggested otherwise. They had little or no passion for their choice of careers, unable to identify personal values, let alone align them with that of their chosen careers and organizations they are seeking to work with. All these affected their performance negatively and I thought that if someone had listened to them and helped them see the options available to them, they could have made better decisions. I mentored and coached many of them out of their confusion and uncertainties.
When I left these companies and transitioned to serving as a parole officer in the prison system, I was overwhelmed and saddened at the number of young adults who were incarcerated. The criminal lives of some of these teens/young adults began as early as age 13, sometimes even younger. Reviewing the criminal histories of some of these youths deepened my conviction that much training was needed sooner rather than later.
“If we don’t invest now in building character into children, we will surely invest more tomorrow in trying to repair adults.” – Michael Josephson, Internationally renowned champion of character education for youth and ethical conduct.
Having the right and needed support has always differentiated those who make it from those who do not, which is why I do what I do.
